Happy Holidays
Hi guys! Wow, I haven't posted in a while. I hope everyone hasn't forgotten about me. At least the holidays aren't over yet, so I'm still in time to wish people happy ones. I'm not much for New Year's resolutions, but I need to stop being so self-isolating. I should have a sketchpost up soon!
I myself don't celebrate any holidays, really, but there are a few things I enjoy about them:
1. Holiday flavored non-dairy creamers. Yes, they are artificial and probably not very good for you, but do I care? No! They taste delicious in my coffee, and I love the eggnog and pumpkin spice and gingerbread and vanilla rum flavors, mmm. They make me feel so kingly for a few months of the year. I cannot explain my love for them, and indeed, I'm sure no one would want me to.
2. Christmas lights! I love to go out and see everyone's decorations. I have tried to go on night walks as many nights as possible this winter, to bask in the pretty glow. I'm lucky I have an excellent coat and gloves, because it's really cold out there. But the cold will not stop me from gazing upon the lights!
3. PUMPKIN FLAVORED THINGS. I am referring to those other pumpkin flavored things which are not creamer. I swear, one day almost everything I ate and/or drank had pumpkin in it.
For the actual day of Christmas, my brother and I went over our mother's house, along with a few of her boyfriend's relatives. My mother had the plan of serving no actual meal but a series of appetizers, which was--I don't know why she decided to do that, as it wasn't less work, but I have no complaints.
My family never asks awkward or uncomfortable questions during holiday meals, because we gather around the TV and watch movies while we're eating. I'm not sure if that's odd, and it's not my idea, but that's what happens! This Christmas, we watched On Golden Pond and Indiana Jones and the Legend of the Crystal Skull.
I was very amused inwardly, because at first, we were flipping through the channels and people were saying how there were "no good movies on", but then suddenly someone exclaimed, "Ooh! On Golden Pond!" I have to say, On Golden Pond is awesome, because it is all about Katherine Hepburn being a badass and Henry Fonda being a dick, and what more can you ask from a movie, honestly? I changed the title to The Sonofabitch Story, though, because it was the most frequent line of dialogue in the script and was used as a greeting, insult, and general exclamation by the characters. Which was also awesome.
The Crystal Skull was also entertaining, because it was so awful I was laughing out loud. I think I almost choked on my appetizers. I kept appealing to my brother, who had seen it before, asking him "Did that really happen?" and "Is this ever explained?" the answers to which were invariably yes and no.
For the New Year, I'm not really doing anything either, but I bought a bottle of Kahlua so I can put a bit in my coffee. Never let anyone tell you that I don't live dangerously.
Finally, I wasn't really able to do things for people for the holidays, but I would love to write little stories for people, as it would both be fun and get me in a writing mood. If you have a request, for anything: fan stuff or original things, any topic, make it here! (Warning: if you ask for something I don't know anything about, I'll make up stuff, and it may be dreadfully inaccurate.)
If people ask for some, I'll try to get to them all! ♥
